Antique 1910s Art Nouveau enamel pansy and baguette rhinestone bar pin

A darling ca. 1900s-1910s sterling silver bar pin with a baguette rhinestone body and enamel pansy. Pansies represented love and thoughtfulness in the Victorian through Art Nouveau Era and this pin is a beautiful example of the "language of flowers" (floriography!) in jewelry. The unmistakable five-petal pansy is enameled with shimmering colors of periwinkle, purple, and fuchsia and bordered in white. The pansy looks wild and wonderful and a single faux pearl rests at the center. The "stem" of the flower is pavé set with baguette rhinestones. Tiny marcasite leaves add a special flourish.

Measurements: 2 5/8" long
Era: 1910s-1920s
Markings: Maker's mark and STERLING
