Antique Edwardian 1910s oval locket with peacock motif and jet
An early 20th century Aesthetic Movement locket with a marvelous peacock motif and lovely photo inside. The peacock is a rare-to-see bird in antique jewelry, appearing exclusively between the Belle Epoque and Art Nouveau Eras - 1880s-1910s. The posture of the bird here is relaxed and regal, resting lakeside between rocks and reeds. The scene is laid out in a window-shaped recess with yellow gold plating providing a subtle contrast to the rose gold of the locket. The other side of the locket is inset with a piece of onyx glass (French jet). The remnants of swivel pegs on the sides to the locket tell us that this was originally a fob, later turned to a locket. Hinges from the top to reveal a photos of an Edwardian-Era woman with a high, starched collar and neatly parted hair. Original glass. Comes with an adjustable 18-20" gold fill chain.

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.
International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
