Antique 1910s Victorian Scottish Aberdeen granite inlay link bracelet

A magnificent Victorian Scottish granite inlay bracelet from the early 1900s. This piece fits neatly into the category of Scottish "pebble" jewelry, which was popularized by Queen Victoria and continued on-trend through the early 20th century. This piece contains indigenous pink and salt/pepper granite in alternating rectangular links. The stones - which are native to the Aberdeen area of Scotland - are cut, polished, and set in sturdy sterling silver with closed backs. The feature link is shield shape. Excellent condition with hallmarks on each link and a pretty box closure with safety chain. Charlotte Gere and Judy Rudoe write about Scottish jewelry in their book, "Jewelry in the Age of Queen Victoria:"

"Those [materials] which are incontrovertibly Scottish are the pink and grey mottled granites, quarried near Perth . . . When Harriet Beecher Stowe visited Scotland in 1853 she saw granite polishing machinery in operation."

Measurements: 8" end to end, body of bracelet 7mm
Era: 1910s (1911)
Markings: Full British hallmarks for Maker (Henry Griffin Plant, Birmingham), Sterling silver, assay, and date letter (1911)
