Antique "11-26-30" 4 3/4 US Art Deco 1930s 18K five-diamond wedding band

A square-style wedding band from the year 1930 with five single cut diamonds and a continuous pattern. The band was made by Belais Manufacturing Co., the original patent holders of white gold in the United States and a highly regarded fine jewelry brand during this period. The band is engraved for a wedding on November 26, 1930, and has crisp chasing on three sides. Five diamonds, inset in the body of the band, add just the right amount of sparkle.

Of interest, taken from Lang's Antique Jewelry University entry on Belais:

"During the late 19th and early 20th century, they experimented with various alloys for white gold as a substitute for platinum in jewelry. David Belais presented his final formula to the trade in 1917. A patent was applied for on October 5, 1918, and granted on February 10, 1920. The formulation specified in Belais’ patent resulted in an 18 karat white gold alloy composed of gold, zinc, and nickel which thus avoided any problems with the platinum restrictions imposed by the war."

Note: This band cannot be sized without compromising the engraving.
