Antique 18K Victorian .50 carat Old Mine Cut diamond engagement ring

An 18K Victorian solitaire engagement ring with tiers of details and a VS/E-F Old Mine Cut diamond. Victorian engagement rings all share some common attributes: Old cut diamonds, usually set as singletons (sometimes as trios); multi-prong settings in high-karat yellow gold; buttercup heads and trumpet-style shoulders; and sometimes (if we are lucky!) a bit of enamel detail. This ring checks ALL the boxes and is a great example of a Late Victorian diamond ring. The star of this ring is the chunky, lovable .50 carat diamond. The facet shapes and sizes are variable yet consistent: I can almost picture the diamond sawer at work on this one. The rough girdle - uneven in places - is gripped by a dozen prongs and framed by a black enamel border. Frilly, buttercup-style scallops create a further, framing platform and base of the head. Decorative trumpet shoulders. Some wear to the enamel consistent with age.

Measurements: Size 9 US, 3.6 grams. This ring may be sized in the 6-8 3/4 range for $75.

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.

International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
