Antique 1930s Art Deco .72 carat Old European Cut diamond engagement ring
A stunning Art Deco platinum engagement ring with a twinkling .72 carat Old European Cut diamond center and pavé set shoulders. This diamond is very symmetrical with a tiny culet and a quicker, flashier play of light than most of the Old Euros that I see. I suspect that this diamond was cut in the late 1930s, when "circular brilliants" or "transitional" cut diamonds were coming off the bench as lapidaries learned new techniques and gradually moved towards the RBC (round brilliant cut) faceting standards. The diamond is held in a square head with corner prongs, ever so gently lifted (4mm rise!) from the finger. The shoulders of the ring spread like sparkling wings, set with seven diamonds in a pendant-shaped arrangement. Simple shank.

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.
International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
