Antique 14K 1910s gold golf award medallion pendant
A 14K ca. 1910s gold medal depicting a golfer mid-swing on a lush and luxurious course. The detail here is incredible! In the background, we see a three story clubhouse with flags flying from the roof and neat landscaping outside. Three gorgeous plants are also visible: a date palm, a Bismark palm, and a long-armed aloe plant. These dot the grassy course and frame the golfer, who stands at the corner of a manicured greenway ready to tee off. His form is energetic at the top of his backswing and his gaze is happy and focused on the little white gold golf ball below. The relief of the medallion varies across the elements, with the clouds and grass in very low relief and the body of the golfer appearing ready to step right off the face of the medal and into real life. The folds of the fabric on his trousers, the fronds of the palms, the lighlty textured clouds . . . this is a masterpiece! The slightly wavy outline of the piece says "Art Nouveau" to me and gives the medal extra charm. Remarkable condition. Chain not included.

International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
