Antique 1820 Georgian mourning ring with bloodstone and pearls
A late Georgian-Era mourning ring with an inscription for a life lost in November of 1827. The ring is elegant in its spare design, with a round, gem-centered face trimmed in seed pearls. As with many examples of sentimental jewelry from the 1800s, especially pieces that were likely well-worn, this piece has been altered and repaired over the years. I noticed that the shank is 18K yellow gold, both a different fineness and gold tone than the face of the ring. It probably replaced a decorative split or chased shank more typical of the period. Additionally, the bloodstone likely replaced a fitted round of crystal preserving hair work. Both repairs are nicely done and respectful of the overall solemnity of the ring. The verso is deftly engraved with "Christian Hanson died Nov 1827." Likely American or English in origin.
Measurements: Size 4 US, 2.5 grams. This ring may be sized in the 5-8 US range for $75.

International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
