Antique 1810s 10K and silver Georgian memorial ring with pearls and diamond
A wonderful find! A wearable Georgian (1819) mourning ring with a pearl surround and a silver and diamond-set panel in lieu of a hair compartment. The absence of hair work and a glass-topped panel makes this piece quite robust and suitable for daily wear, which is a rare thing to find in mourning jewelry from the early 1800s. I wonder why the family opted out of a hair work panel? Perhaps circumstances did not allow for hair work to be completed, or perhaps the family made different rings of varying styles (some with hair and some without) for different recipients? The combination of warm rose gold and cool-toned silver is alluring and era-appropriate. The little collet mounted rose cut diamond is charming and etchings in the silver panel seem to radiate from it like rays of a star. The trim of white pearls - meant to resemble tears - add a soft, tender quality to the design. The verso is engraved, "Rob'Copswell (?) died 18 June 1819 Aged 55 yrs." Wide, slatted shoulders and comfortable fit.
Measurements: Size 7 US, 3.6 grams. We prefer not to alter this ring in any way.

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.
International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
