Vintage 1930s 9 CT black opal teardrop triplet ring

A darling opal triplet dress ring that dances with swatches of electric greens, saturated blues, and dashes of fuchsia. The pattern and color play reminds me of the shimmery magic of a blue morph butterfly wing: I enjoy the large patches of color. Opal doublets are made up of a backing layer (base) and an opal slice (middle) and quartz topper. Doublet and triplet opals are a clever and dynamic way to make gorgeous specimens affordable without sacrificing gemstone color or quality. This stone is bezel set in 9 CT rose gold with yellow and white accents at the shoulder.
