Antique Art Nouveau crescent moon pin with woman in profile

An Art Nouveau gold fill brooch with a seed pearl-studded crescent moon and a woman in profile. The crescent was a popular design element around the turn of the century, along with other celestial motifs. Small pins and pendants in the shape of stars, moons, and suns - often set with seed pearls or diamonds - were pretty pieces that appealed to Victorian women of all ages. This crescent here is interrupted by a coin-size medallion with a repoussé motif of a Classical woman with upswept hair and a diamond set diadem. Excellent condition. The clasp appears to be a repair.
