Antique 1910s Art Nouveau gold plated locket with woman and pearls

A spectacular turn-of-the-century locket from the American jeweler J.J. Sommer & Co. The company operated from the turn-of-the-century to 1931 and this locket dates to about the middle of their tenure. We love it because it features two of the most popular motifs from the Art Nouveau Era: the crescent moon and female form. Here the face of a young woman, presented in profile, is wrapped with wind-blown, wispy hair. The outline of her head is framed by a graduated pearl-set crescent moon. The verso is plain. The locket hinges from the bottom to one photo compartment with the original picture ring. There is some loss to the plating but the patina and quality of the finish is still very good. Modern chain added by us.

Shipping

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.

International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
