Vintage 1940s .55 carat VS2/I Old European Cut diamond solitaire engagement ring
A handsome 14K yellow gold solitaire ring with a .55 carat Old European Cut diamond set low in a one-of-a-kind setting. I think this ring dates to the 1940s, when Old Euros were still the diamond-of-choice for engagement rings but settings were becoming less decorative and more practical. This type of strong-shouldered ring reminds me of Victorian styles in the late 1800s: robust, stately, and decidedly grown-up. The shoulders here - don't they look like honey dippers?! - frame a practically perfect Old Euro. Just over 1/2 carat with a big culet and vivacious play-of-light, this diamond is tucked in a six-prong basket setting. Fully round shank (1.6mm), very comfortable to wear.

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.
International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
