RESERVED // Vintage 1930s .90 CTW VS/J-K Old Mine Cut diamond engagement ring

An Art Moderne stacked double-diamond ring with sapphires. The ring is modeled mostly in 14K yellow gold, which is a bit of a rarity for Art Deco diamond rings! The mounting is replete with Art Deco design details, including steppe-style shoulders with faceted and millgrained gold work. The triangular sapphires rest in neatly fitted frames on either side of the diamonds. The diamonds! These are old "miner" cuts with steep crowns and plunging pavilions. Set in square-shaped, white gold heads to maximize sparkle. These diamonds were cut to flicker and glow at the turn-of-the-century and they pre-date the setting by a generation or more. Perhaps they came from an older family ring? Perhaps the jeweler had a stash of antique cut stones at his bench? However they ended up side-by-side, they make a lovely pair. Two stone rings like this are sometimes referred to as "Toi et Moi" rings - French for "You and Me." The stones are meant to represent the couple. This would make a wonderful engagement ring or cocktail ring. Easily sizeable.
