Antique 1920s German Theodor Fahrner rock crystal, turquoise and marcasite brooch
A marvelous Art Deco rock crystal, turquoise, and marcasite brooch from the highly collectible designer Theodor Fahrner. If you collect antique jewelry long enough - especially European "costume" jewelry from the early 20th century - you eventually come across his name and, if you are lucky, his work. Fahrner lived from 1859-1919 and was a celebrated engraver and jeweler during his lifetime, inspired by the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements. After his death his firm continued working through the Art Deco Era and produced astounding and affordable pieces. Because his work was exported, it can be found today in a variety of markets. This piece is clearly recognizable as a Fahrner piece: modest materials and exquisite design that incorporates Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. The brooch is done in sterling and holds a large panel of cloudy rock crystal. This is overlaid by a sterling motif of openwork blossoms, leaves and vines. Turquoise and marcasite stud the design and accent the frame. A stunning piece in pristine condition.

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.
International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
