Antique 1890s Victorian silver plated swan motif locket with book chain

A silver-plated Victorian book chain locket with a hand-engraved lake scene featuring a regal swan. Swans were a symbol of love, loyalty, and strength to the Victorians. This Aesthetic-Era locket was probably a sentimental piece that originally held photographs of a loved ones. The engraving is beautifully done, with the swan floating on the surface of a lake with the sun rising/setting to her right and a sailboat visible to her left. The foreground is filled with a rose and greenery. The locket is intricately cast with an ornate trim on both sides. The verso is plain. The locket opens to an empty interior and closes with a tight snap. The book chain features flat, grooved links. Original decorative bail. Wear to the plating consistent with age.

Shipping

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.

International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
