Antique 1900s Victorian 14K moonstone dress ring
A handsome dress ring with an early 20th century mounting and a new moonstone. The stone was absent when we acquired this mounting and a moonstone felt like the perfect partner to this Victorian rose gold! The shoulders of the ring have stylized curling heart motifs and subtle engraved details, with spherical design elements and tiny prongs all around the center stone.
Moonstones display an optical phenomenon called adularescence. As light passes over a moonstone, we see a blue sheen effect that appears to glow. This mystical quality is caused by tiny inclusions in the stone that interfere with the light entering the stone. Some other gemstones can produce this effect but none quite like the hazy, pillowy sheen seen in moonstones. This ring was made during the transition between Victorian and Art Nouveau periods, with the sweet design details popular in Victorian jewelry and the soft, graceful palette of Art Nouveau.

Shipping
Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.
International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
