Antique 1900s German Jugendstil Heinrich Levinger enamel bracelet

An exceedingly rare example of Jugendstil jewelry by the German jeweler, Heinrich Levinger. Levinger was a Jugendstil jeweler based in Pforzheim, Germany. Pforzheim was the center of Jugendstil style, the German and Austrian counterpart of French Art Nouveau, in the 1890s to 1910s. Jugendstil jewelry, like Art Nouveau, has fluid designs with soft colors inspired by nature. Enamel was a popular technique for jewelers of this time as it offered them a great way to express color. Although Heinrich Levinger died in 1899, the firm remained under his name and was reopened by Emil Levinger in 1901. Emil Levinger partnered with Karl Bissinger around 1903, renaming the firm Levinger & Bissinger, until Bissinger left in 1909. The jewelry produced by the firm was made in silver, with curving designs, utilizing colorful gemstones and enamel. Levinger is a name known for inventive and beautiful Jugendstil pieces.

This bracelet contains 10 oval shaped pink paste (glass stones) in open links with painterly enamelwork in pink, yellow and green. The soft, colors fade and blend beautifully. Excellent condition. Marked for 900 silver and the firm's manufacture.
