Antique Georgian paste-set Artois slide buckles for bracelets, chokers, or hair
Shoe buckles reached peak popularity in the 18th century when both men and women used them to accessorize their footwear. Buckles - especially those set with paste, like these! - were treasured and kept carefully like jewelry. This pair, which is English in origin, is quite large and set with foil-backed paste of graduated size. The paste is beautifully cut and seamlessly set: this is a VERY nice pair, with the fine quality of hand-cut glass that we love to see. The foil backing gives some of them a champagne-colored tint. These were made to sparkle under candlelight!
To wear, simply weave these through your choice of wide, mid-heavy grade ribbon (think velvet, grosgrain) and style as a choker, bracelet, or hair ornament.

Shipping
Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.
International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
