Antique 1840s Victorian 9 CT gemstone pansy fichu pin
A late Georgian or Early Victorian "fichu" or lace pin with a garnet and amethyst pansy held by a little hand. The five-petaled pansy flower was a symbol of love, affection, and sweet "pensées" to the Victorians. When the pansy appears as a decorative element in jewelry, it marks the piece as a love token or a sentimental object. This pin is a beautiful example of the "language of flowers" (floriography!) in jewelry, especially with the addition of the hand (a friend? a suitor?) delivering the blossom in this case. Flat cut garnets form the three lower petals and amethysts form the upper petals. A small amethyst sets the center. Set with closed backs. Beautiful as a pin or affixed to a chain as a pendant ornament.

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.
International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
