Antique Victorian 14K chased large split ring objets de vertus

A hand engraved split ring accessory from the mid 19th century. Split rings were used in the Georgian and Victorian Eras to attach fobs to watch chains. These little baubles are ingeniously functional (identical design to modern day split rings used to hold keys!) and also beautiful objects of adornment. The split on this piece is quite tight, with the seam barely visible at first glance. This piece may be used as a charm holder, worn on a chain as a pendant, or even worn as a ring. A covetable, collectable, valuable, and wearable piece of history!

Measurements: 24mm diameter, 4.1 grams, size 9 US if worn as a ring
Era: 1830s-1850s
