Vintage 1940s .46 carat OEC engagement ring and wedding band set in original box

A darling 1940s engagement and wedding band set, accompanied by the original Abraham & Straus quality certificate and ring box. Thanks to the certificate, we know this set was purchased in November of 1945 by a Mr. A. Semprevivo in Brooklyn, NY. My sources tell me that Mr. Semprevivo was just returned from overseas service in WWII and purchased this set to give his sweetheart. Whether or not he went through with it, we may never know! The rings are a beautiful example of Post-War bridal design, with two-tone gold (platinum was probably still banned from use when these were made), subtle details, and classic solitaire style. This diamond is spectacular and fiery, graded VVS1/E-F or "Perfect" as the certificate boldly states! It is held in a low-profile basket head with fishtail prongs. White gold shoulders give the illusion of tapered baguettes and little orange blossoms mark the shift from white to yellow gold at the shank. The bands is a perfect partner, with white and yellow gold details to match the ring. Bridal sets don't often last together over the decades and this set is pristine.
