Antique Aesthetic Era Victorian sterling locket with star and bead motif

A large Aesthetic Era English locket done entirely in sterling silver with hallmarks for 1893. The locket is impressive and ornate, with tiers of details and pattern. The border has the classic "star and bead" motif while the interior of the locket has a frilly frame, "twisted" silver wire, and a raised and engraved center. Areas of light and dark patina give this piece beautiful contrast and dimension. The verso has a struck star border, too, with a plain and polished center. The locket opens to a roomy interior currently occupied by a young man (this photo can be removed prior to shipping upon request). Glass is absent. Closes with a tight snap. This would have originally been worn on a fancy book chain, but we paired it with a sturdy sterling link. Original spring ring clasp at the bail remains. Some small losses (a missing ball here and there, an absent frill) but overall appearance and condition is quite outstanding.

Shipping

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.

International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
