Antique Austrian 1930s turquoise glass festoon necklace ✶ SALE ✶

A gorgeous example of 1920s Austrian costume jewelry: ornate, colorful, and lavish. The necklace has a supple, twisted foxtail chain upper - with trios of lengths capped with filigree ball findings. The bib or festoon portion of the necklace features pressed turquoise glass in crimped, square panels. White, black and turquoise blue enamel accents frame the glass, which is so carefully colored that it appears to have matrix, just like real turquoise. Ten graduated lengths of festoon chain - five on either side - connect the flanking panels from the main panel. Gorgeous workmanship. Decorative, original clasp. Spectacular and increasingly hard to find example of Austrian jewelry, with obvious influence from the Austro-Hungarian pieces of the late 19th century.

Condition. One faux pearl missing from the main pendant, easily replaced, and the pressed turquoise panel absent from the clasp. Otherwise, very good condition.

Shipping

Domestic: In-stock items ship within three days of purchase (usually within two!) via USPS. Our default is USPS Priority Mail unless your purchase is over $1,000, in which case we require USPS Express Mail + signature confirmation. Insurance is included with all domestic purchases.

International: Default shipping is via USPS First Class International Mail unless the value of the parcel is $400 or more, in which case we default to USPS Priority Mail International shipping. Please allow 3–4 weeks for delivery. Insurance for international orders is available upon request and for an added fee.
